Brief description of workshop:

In this workshop, different types of dance, Bollywood, Tollywood, Medley and Modern Belly dance, will be introduced by Master Ram. Throughout the workshop, students can experience various dance styles as each type of dance is unique and has its own tang.

Bollywood dance is a fusion of classical Indian styles like bhangra with arabic, latin and street dance styles inspired by the spectacular dancing in Indian Bollywood films. Bollywood songs typically comment on the action taking place in the movie, in several ways. Thus, the dance involves externalizing a character's thoughts or presaging an event.

Tollywood dance is inspired by the dancing in Tollywood films. Music and songs from Tollywood films are full of vibrant energy and effervescent movements. Tollywood enable one to show their expression and movements according to the music and lyrics of the songs.

Medley is a mixture of short versions of different kinds of music. In this dance, one can experience different kind of dance styles in one complete remixed song. This type of dance is fun and exciting as the style of dance and music keep changing.

Belly dancing originates from the Middle East and combines influences from Egypt, Turkey, Greece, Lebanon and Morocco. In a world of narrow body stereotypes, belly dancing is a dance style that celebrates curves and femininity whilst toning legs, waist and hips, increasing flexibility and improving overall fitness.

Modern belly dance is suitable for all ages and body types, and can be as physical as the students chooses. The practice offers mental health benefits including an improved sense of well-being, better body image and self-esteem, and the generally positive outlook that comes with regular, enjoyable exercise.

Benefits: The benefits of these dances are both mental and physical. Dancing provides a good cardio-vascular workout and helps increase both flexibility and strength, focusing on the torso or "core muscles", although it also builds leg strength. All dance styles emphasize on muscular "isolations", teaching the ability to move various muscles or muscle groups independently.

Requirement: These dances require physical endurance as it is a high energy type of dance.  All classes will instigate all the basic techniques of dance. The classes are also suitable for students who desire a good cardio workout and fun. Students are also able to improve their dance skills through the many different types of dance technique taught throughout the workshop. For advance level class, it will be more challenging as this class involves more complicated and rapid movements.
