Yogananth was born to India’s famous Yoga Guru, Dr. Asana Andiappan, who explored the therapeutic benefits of Asanas on a scientific level, based on the classical text of Thirumoolar’s Thirumandiram. He started learning Yoga from the watchful eye of his Father and Guru at the age of two.

At the tender age of twenty five, Yogananth is well qualified in the field of Yoga having completed two diplomas (Yoga and Naturopathy, Yogic Science and Education), a Bachelor in Yoga and Naturopathy as well as a Post Graduate Diploma from Dr. MGR University in Chennai, India. He not only completed the Post Graduate Diploma but was awarded a Gold medal for his achievement in coming first for his year. His achievement does not stop here as he is currently in the process of completing his Ph.D. thesis, as well as to publish a book of three thousand Yoga Asanas which has never been published to date.

His dedication to the practice of Yoga has earned him many State, National and International Titles in Yoga Championships. He has also given workshops and demonstrations across different countries including Hong Kong, Taipei, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and France.

Yogananth specializes in Thirumoolar’s Ashtanga Yoga and Hatha Yoga. Beyond Yoga, he is also interested in Indian classical music and a keen player of the Indian Classical Drum, Mirudangam.

His passion and mission in life is to spread the benefits of Yoga to all those who are interested and open to its philosophy. In additional, he wishes to continue his research on the countless Asanas and its benefits.

Brief description of workshop: 

The Alignment

This is the very common word in yoga now a day used by almost all the yoga teachers. For some people it is a frustrating experience. What is alignment? And how to bring a proper alignment to your body and postures? In this workshop we will learn the fundamentals of alignment and its importance in our yoga practice. We will practice some of the basic, intermediate postures to explore and analyze the principles of alignment and its effects in our body and mind. This is open to beginner and intermediate level students.

 

The art of effortless arching. (Back Bending Workshop)

Suppleness is the sign of youth. If you can keep your spine supple your body and mind remains young and happy.

Amazingly, a simple warm up routine can help us to strengthen and open our back to prepare for advanced back bending postures and helps us to prevent injuries. In this workshop we will practice some back bending warm-up postures, partner support, and some very unique wall support techniques. Get ready to unravel the secrets of an effortless advanced back bending practice. Open to intermediate and advanced yoga practitioners with minimum 3 – 6 months of regular yoga practice.

 

Regulating the rhythm of breathing – Pranayama Workshop

Most modern yoga styles that exist today do not emphasize on regular, proper way of breathing.  No matter you are a basic, intermediate or an advanced practitioner, deep and proper yogic breathing is the very essential element in yoga to be practiced to build a strong foundation in our yoga practice. In this workshop we learn to understand our breathing pattern and how one can activate the dormant portion of the lungs and unlock the pranic channels that energize our body and mind which brings a whole new experience to your yoga practice. Open to all levels.

 

Yoga for the whole body.

Most of the times our practice is always focused on one particular sequence or postures of same intensity level. In this workshop we will focus how to open and strengthen each and every part of our body starting from the top of the head to the tip of the toes.  We will practice a series of warm-up techniques and postures that gives you “ yoga for the whole body “ experience. Learn to practice with awareness and understanding according to your body’s daily needs. This is open to all levels.
