My yoga journey began in 2007. Back then, I understood yoga in a different light. Yoga was just another form of physical activity. But when I became more aware in my practice, I had come to realise that yoga is not about sweating buckets. It is how we connect our mind, breath and body with the asanas. This was when I decided to enrol for the 200-hours Teacher Training in 2014. Within a short time after the training, I left my corporate job and went into teaching yoga full time. Teaching and practising yoga full time enables me to embrace yoga wholeheartedly and be able to teach from my heart and to spread the knowledge of yoga to others.
Through these years, I have also learnt to be grounded, to be more patient and humble and able to relate with people from all walks of life. As for my teaching style, I am known to advocate a more dynamic yet flexible style, sometimes instilling an element of fun or challenge in my teaching. My style tends to focus on safe practices, to constantly remind students to be mindful and to connect their breath with their practices. Coupled my sporting background, I hope to inspire my students that yoga is for everyone and not just for the flexible. It is equally important to be flexible yet strong, which is achievable through regular practice. It is never too late to start.
